Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer at Pillar, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of our security platform. Working closely with our Head of R&D, you will:

• Take ownership of building our platform from the ground up, from architecture to deployment.
• Own features end to end — you'll spend most of your time in the backend, but you're expected to follow a problem wherever it leads, including the frontend when that's what it takes to ship.
• Collaborate with the R&D team to architect, design, and develop the Pillar platform.
• Refine product features based on user feedback and ensure technical requirements align with user needs.
• Work in an AI-first development environment, leveraging coding agents and AI tooling as core parts of the engineering workflow.
• Innovate and solve cybersecurity challenges with a talented team of engineers.
• Establish and promote our R&D culture and best practices.

• 4+ Years of Software Engineering Experience: Hands-on experience building production-grade SaaS systems, across at least two substantial engineering roles.
• Programming Languages: Strong backend experience in Go and/or Node.js. Comfort with TypeScript, React and Next.js on the frontend, since you'll touch it from time to time.
• Production-Facing Work: You've built and owned systems that real customers depend on — not internal tooling.
• Builder Mentality: Strong ability to take ownership and manage tasks autonomously, seeing features through from start to finish. Zero-to-one experience is a significant advantage.
• Cloud Architecture: Deep understanding of cloud architecture and modern system design principles; experience with k8s is an advantage.
• Databases: Working experience with Postgres or other relational databases, including data modeling.
• A strong passion for the LLM space and AI engineering, with a focus on contributing to the development and evolution of AI-driven security solutions.
