Sales Engineer

Sales

Remote

U.S (East Coast)

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Sales Engineer (SE) to partner with our Account Executives and drive technical wins across North America. You’ll lead discovery, design solutions, run POVs/POCs, and make sure every technical stakeholder understands why Pillar is the best way to secure their AI initiatives.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role: you will provide your technical expertise and guidance throughout the sales cycle, from architecture reviews to deployment and troubleshooting, while also presenting clearly to CISOs and security architects. You’ll be the voice of the customer internally, influencing product direction with real-world insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical sales cycle: Own discovery, architecture reviews, demos, proofs of value (POV), PoCs, and deployment guidance through close.
  • Design & demo solutions: Tailor Pillar’s platform to customer use cases; build compelling demos and success criteria that tie business outcomes to technical capabilities.
  • Deliver, manage, and run PoC’s and PoV’s while visiting our customer sites, consult with key executive stakeholders, and drive sales via technical demonstrations
  • Be the primary technical point of contact: Build deep trust with prospects’ security, data governance, and AI/ML teams; navigate complex environments and stakeholders.
  • Create quick integrations, troubleshooting guides, scripts, or dashboards to prove value and accelerate adoption.
  • Partner ecosystem support: Enable and assist channel/technology partners on Pillar’s architecture and deployment patterns.
  • Close the feedback loop: Translate field learnings into product requirements, roadmap suggestions, and better enablement assets.
  • Maintain impeccable deal hygiene: Document technical findings, timelines, risks, and next steps in the CRM; support accurate forecasting.

Ideal Candidate

Must-haves

  • 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, TAM) at a B2B SaaS company.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, data security, cloud security, or AI/LLM security domains.
  • Proven track record running successful POVs/POCs and influencing complex enterprise deals.
  • Ability to script in Python/Bash (or similar) for automation, diagnostics, and integrations.
  • Strong grasp of public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) concepts: IAM, APIs, networking, data stores, logging.
  • Strong grasp of the software development lifecycle and traditional security controls.
  • Comfort translating between business value and deep technical detail for audiences from CISO to practitioner.
  • Startup DNA: bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and a willingness to build from zero.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of DSPM, CASB, DLP, CNAPP, MLOps, or related security categories.
  • Familiarity with LLM/GenAI architectures, prompt security, or model governance.
  • Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes/containers, and modern DevOps/GitOps tooling.
  • Certifications such as AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, Security Engineer, or CCSP.
  • Experience enabling/working through VARs, MSSPs, and cloud marketplaces.
